NBA Scoring Rules

How is the scoring calculated for basketball?

Updated over a week ago

Players must record at least one second of official game time to be counted for entries.

The single stat category Pts+Rebs+Ast (PRA) is the sum of points + rebounds + assists, with each stat counting as 1.

The single stat category pts+rebs is the sum of points + rebound, with each stat counting as 1.

The single stat category rebs+asts is the sum of rebounds + assists, with each stat counting as 1.

Personal Fouls will not include technical or flagrant fouls and will be scored based on our scoring provider’s final determination of personal fouls.

Dunks will be determined by our official scoring provider.

Minutes Played - Total number of minutes played by a player in regulation. The projections will be set by using a decimal value. For example, 38.5 minutes would be equal to 38 minutes and 30 seconds of minutes played (38:30). Projections will be scored to the nearest hundredth decimal point.

  • If you placed an entry on MORE than 38.5 minutes and the player played 38 minutes and 41 seconds, that would be scored as a win.

Deflections: Deflections will be scored based on our scoring provider.

Any player who does not satisfy the above criteria will be counted as a “Did Not Play”. The pick will be voided, and your entry payout will be adjusted accordingly.

Combo Projections - Any projection with 2 or more players in the projection, these projections are still subject to the same DNP rule of at least 1 minimum second of court time player. BOTH players in the projection must play at least 1 second on the court in order for it to be a valid projection.

Double Double (DBL DBL): When a player reaches double figures (10 or more) in two of the five main statistical categories – points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks – they have achieved a double-double.

Triple Double (TRPL DBL): When a player reaches double figures (10 or more) in three of the five main statistical categories – points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks – they have achieved a triple-double.

Cumulative projections: Any projection joined by the plus (+) symbol means that that pick is a combination of those stats. 'Points + Rebounds + Assists' for example is the combination of all 3 stats.

Personal fouls: Scored as awarded by NBA officials/scoresheets. Technical fouls do not count toward this stat.

First Basket: The first point scored by any player on the court. To win, the player you pick must score the first point of the game - not just for their team.

First Rebound: The first rebound collected by any player on the court. To win, the player you pick must collect the first rebound of the game - not just for their team.

First Assist: The first assist recorded by any player on the court. To win, the player you pick must record the first assist of the game - not just for their team.
