GENERAL RULES
Once submitted, picks cannot be canceled.
For over/under picks, game overtime is included in the final score unless otherwise specified in the app or sport-specific rules.
For half-time line picks, overtime is included in the second half unless otherwise specified in the app or sport-specific rules.
All minimums, maximums, and payout odds are subject to change without prior written notice.
In the case of suspended games, protest games, or overturned decisions, Chalkboard adheres to Las Vegas gaming rules for picking purposes. Otherwise, Chalkboard does not recognize suspended games, protests, or overturned decisions for prediction purposes.
All sporting events must be played on the scheduled date unless otherwise specified. If an event is postponed or rescheduled, or if the venue changes, the event will be considered 'no action,' meaning all virtual funds for that event will be refunded (unless sport-specific rules state otherwise). Parlays will be recalculated, excluding the affected selection (e.g., a 3-team parlay becomes a 2-team parlay). Individual tennis matches will be considered 'no action' if the match is not completed due to withdrawal, incapacity, or disqualification. Note: This rule does not apply to Single Game Parlays (see General Rule #20).
Payouts are calculated based on the odds in effect at the time the pick was submitted.
In the case of an obvious error in the posted line, scheduled time, or maximum risk amount, the affected picks will be deemed 'no action,' and all virtual funds will be credited or refunded accordingly. An 'obvious error' is determined by Chalkboard, supported by discrepancies in market odds at the time the pick was submitted.
In the event of a settlement error or correction of in-game scores or stats, all picks will be updated to reflect the proper outcome. These corrections may result in a change to a customer's virtual funds balance up to 7 days after the completion of the event.
The dates and start times of events shown are for guidance purposes only. Picks will be accepted up until the advertised start time. If a pick is inadvertently accepted after an event or match has started, the affected selection(s) will be voided.
Scores and times for in-play events are displayed for informational purposes only. We do not guarantee their accuracy and recommend verifying with other sources rather than relying solely on these figures when making decisions about placing picks. Picks will not be voided or refunded due to discrepancies or inconsistencies in score displays.
All futures picks are accepted as All In, Run or Not Run, Entered or Not Entered. If a selection does not participate, stakes are forfeited. In the event of a tie between three or more competitors in one prediction option, the payout will be divided equally among the tied competitors.
Winners and losers are official after:
Soccer: 90 minutes of play (overtime and/or penalty shots are not included)
Football (NCAA & NFL): 55 minutes of play
Basketball (NBA): 43 minutes of play
Basketball (NCAA): 35 minutes of play
Hockey (NHL): 55 minutes of play
All other sports: 55 minutes of play
Overtime, quarters, or extra innings are included in the final score for predictions on totals, money lines, and point spreads unless otherwise specified. This does not apply to soccer lines, which include a price for a draw.
Overtime is included in the second half for half-time picks.
Period and quarter picks are for the specific period or quarter only. Overtime picks apply to the full overtime period, regardless of the number of overtime sessions.
For other sports: Any contest with a scheduled length of play or time limit must be completed or have five minutes or less of scheduled playing time remaining for the contest to be considered official for sports prediction purposes.
A straight pick is a single selection on a single event with a point spread, total, money line, or other market options.
A parlay pick is a single prediction that links two or more selections together, with the outcome dependent on all selections winning. If one of the selections results in a PUSH or NO ACTION, the parlay will be settled at reduced odds based on the remaining selections (e.g., a 3-selection parlay becomes a 2-selection parlay).
A single-game parlay is a combination of selections within the same event. If one of these selections results in a PUSH or NO ACTION, the entire single-game parlay will result in a PUSH, regardless of the outcomes of the other selections.
SPORTS-SPECIFIC RULES
1. FOOTBALL
NFL & NCAA College Football
Picks on abandoned or postponed matches are considered "No Action," except for those picks that have already been determined at the time of abandonment or postponement.
If the venue of a match is changed, picks already placed will stand, provided the home team is still designated as such. If the home and away teams are reversed, picks placed based on the original listing will be void.
In 2-Way markets, Push rules apply unless otherwise stated below. Stakes on straight picks will be returned, and in parlay picks, the selection will be treated as a non-runner.
For Highest/Lowest Scoring Team and Player Yardage markets, only the quoted participants will count. Any team or player involved in an abandoned or postponed match will be treated as a non-runner.
Pre-Game Picks Include Overtime
For pregame picks, there must be 5 minutes or less of scheduled game time remaining for the pick to have action unless the specific market outcome is already determined or stated otherwise. All NFL match markets and pre-game markets will be settled according to the game stats published on www.NFL.com on the day of the game.
For pre-game markets, the game must be completed for picks to have action unless the settlement of picks has already been determined.
In Team Totals or Odd/Even markets, a zero score by a team will be counted as Even for settlement purposes.
Exception: Double Result includes overtime – Predict the result at half-time and at the end of regulation. The game must be completed for the pick to have action.
In-Play Picks Include Overtime
For in-play picks, the game or relevant quarter/half must be completed for picks to have action unless the settlement of picks has already been determined.
For settlement purposes:
Half-time picks: The 2nd half will include any points scored in overtime, if played, unless otherwise stated.
Quarter picks: The 4th quarter will include any points scored in overtime, if played, unless otherwise stated.
Double Result: Overtime is excluded if played.
Player Props
If a player is inactive or does not participate in any snaps or plays during the game, all picks on that player will be treated as "No Action."
If a player is on the field for at least one snap during the game, all picks on that player will have action.
Settlement of Picks
Statistics provided by the official score provider or the official website of the relevant competition or fixture will be used to settle picks. If statistics from an official score provider or website are unavailable, or if there is significant evidence that the official data is incorrect, we will use independent evidence to support the settlement of picks.
In the absence of consistent, independent evidence or in the presence of significant conflicting evidence, picks will be settled based on our own statistics.
2. BASKETBALL
Game Markets
All games must start on the scheduled date (local stadium time) for picks to have action. If the venue of a match is changed, picks already placed will stand, provided the home team is still designated as such. If the home and away teams for a listed match are reversed and the fixture is played at the away team's venue, picks will still stand, provided the home team is still officially designated as such; otherwise, the picks will be voided.
There must be 5 minutes or less of scheduled game time remaining for picks to have action unless the specific market outcome has already been determined.
For matches played as part of a two-legged tie, if the aggregate score is tied at the end of regulation in the second leg, overtime will be included to determine the outcome of second-leg match picks.
In 2-Way markets, Push rules apply unless otherwise stated. Stakes on single picks will be returned, and in multi-pick entries, the selection will be treated as a non-runner.
All pre-game picks include overtime unless otherwise stated.
First-to-score and first-basket markets are settled based on the first field goal, unless otherwise stated.
For Double Result, the prediction includes the result at both half-time and the end of the match, including any overtime played.
In-Play Half-Picks INCLUDE Overtime
For first-half picks to stand, the first half must be completed. If a game is postponed or canceled after the start, for game and second-half picks, there must be 5 minutes or less remaining for picks to have action unless the settlement of picks has already been determined.
In-Play Quarter Picks
The quarter must be completed for picks to have action unless the settlement of picks has already been determined.
For 1st/2nd/3rd/4th Quarter "Both Teams to Score X Points," both teams must individually score the stated number of points within the specified quarter only, including overtime if played.
Settlement of Picks
Statistics provided by the official score provider or the official website of the relevant competition or fixture will be used to settle picks. If statistics from the official provider or website are unavailable, or if there is significant evidence that the official data is incorrect, independent evidence will be used to support the settlement of picks.
In the absence of consistent, independent evidence, or if there is significant conflicting evidence, picks will be settled based on our own statistics.
Player Props
If a player participates in the game, all picks will have action. If a player is inactive or does not appear in the game, all picks will be deemed "No Action."
"First Scorer Type" props refer to the player scoring the first point of the game by the specified method. For example, if "Player A Over 0.5 for Player First Scorer Type 2PT" is selected, the player must score the first point by a 2-point field goal for the "Over 0.5" to be a winning pick.
3. BASEBALL
General Rules
If a game starts and is suspended but resumes within 24 hours of the original start time, all picks will remain in action.
If a game's start time has been postponed or rescheduled, and it will not be played on the same date as originally scheduled, all picks will be void.In 2-Way markets, Push rules apply unless otherwise stated. Stakes on single picks will be returned, and in parlay picks, the selection will be removed (e.g., a 3-team parlay would become a 2-team parlay with an adjusted payout).
If a match venue is changed, the picks already placed will stand, provided the home team is still designated as such. If the home and away teams are reversed (e.g., the match is played at the original away team’s venue), picks placed based on the original listing will be void. The exception is NCAA Baseball, where picks stand regardless of a change in venue or reversal of the home and away teams for a listed match.
MLB Picks
All picks placed on a game will remain in action, even if there are changes to the starting pitchers for one or both teams.
It is the user's responsibility to be aware of the starting pitchers and any relevant pitching changes.
If a change in starting pitchers causes a shift in the odds, all picks may be voided and refunded at our discretion, but only before the start of the game.
For any suspended MLB game that resumes within 72 hours of suspension, all picks will stand and be settled after the completion of the game. If the game is not completed within 72 hours of suspension, all picks will be void unless the settlement of picks has already been determined.
Pre-Game Lines
All pre-game picks include extra innings unless otherwise stated.
Moneyline (To Win): Subject to the 4½ innings rule. If the home team leads after 4½ innings or the away team leads after 5 innings, the moneyline will have action.
Run Line, 3-Way Handicaps, and Alternative Run Lines: Subject to the 8½ innings rule. If the home team leads after 8½ innings or the away team leads after 9 innings, these markets will have action.
Game Total, Team Totals, 3-Way Totals, and Alternative Game Totals: Subject to the 8½ innings rule, except where the total has already gone over (e.g., if the total has already gone over the quoted number, picks on the over will be settled as winners, and picks on the under will be settled as losers) or where the natural conclusion of the game would determine the outcome of the total quoted. For example, if an MLB game is called or suspended at a 5-5 tie, picks on a Game Total of Over 10 or 10.5 will be settled as winners, with picks on Under 10 or 10.5 settled as losers, as any natural conclusion would result in at least 11 runs. Specifically, for MLB Spring Training matches, settlement will be based on 9 innings only when the natural conclusion rule applies.
Pre-Game Markets
All picks have action. Extra innings count unless otherwise specified.
All 1st Innings Markets: The 1st inning must be completed for picks to have action unless the settlement of picks has already been determined.
To Win and Total Double (including Alternatives), Run Line and Total Double: Subject to the 8½ innings rule, except where settlement has already been determined (e.g., if an MLB game is called or suspended at 5-4 at the end of the 6th inning, picks on a Game Total of 8.5 will be settled as winners, as the total has already gone over, and the To Win part of the combined pick is subject to the 4½ innings rule).
Double Result: Predict the result after 4½ innings, plus the result for the entire game. In the event of a tie, picks will be void.
Game Total Odd/Even: If the combined score is zero, picks will be settled as Even.
Team Total Odd/Even: If the team score is zero, picks will be settled as Even.
Total Runs 5-Way: The 8½ innings rule applies unless the total has already reached the highest band, in which case that band will be settled as the winner.
In-Play Markets
All picks are in action, regardless of pitching changes. Extra innings count unless stated otherwise.
Moneyline (To Win): Subject to the 8½ innings rule.
Run Line/Alternative Line: Subject to the 8½ innings rule.
Game Totals/Alternative Totals: Subject to the 8½ innings rule, except where the game total has already gone over (e.g., if the game total has already gone over the quoted number, picks on the over will be settled as winners, and picks on the under will be settled as losers) or where the natural conclusion of the game would determine the outcome of the total quoted. For example, if an MLB game is called or suspended at a 5-5 tie, picks on Over 10 or 10.5 will be settled as winners, with picks on Under 10 or 10.5 settled as losers, as any natural conclusion would result in at least 11 runs. Specifically for MLB Spring Training matches, settlement will be based on 9 innings only when the natural conclusion rule applies.
Team Totals: Subject to the 8½ innings rule, except where the team total has already gone over the quoted total (e.g., if the team total has already gone over, picks on the over will be settled as winners, and picks on the under will be settled as losers).
Run Line (Incl. Tie): Extra innings count. Subject to the 8½ innings rule.
Player Props
All Player Prop picks are subject to the 8½ innings rule, except where the player has already gone over the quoted total (e.g., if the player has already gone over the total, picks on the over will be settled as winners, and picks on the under will be settled as losers).
If a player starts the game, results will be settled based on the player’s statistics at the conclusion of the game, regardless of whether the player plays the entire game or is removed early due to substitution or injury.
If a player does not start, all selections involving that player will be settled as No Action.
'PLAYER TOTAL BASES' markets are calculated as Singles (1) + Doubles (2) + Triples (3) + Home Runs (4).
4. SOCCER
90 Minutes Play
All match markets are based on the result at the end of 90 minutes, including injury time, but excluding extra time and penalty shootouts.
Picks will be void if the game finishes before 90 minutes unless the outcome is already determined (e.g., First Player to Score or Time of the First Goal).
Exceptions:
Friendly matches: settled based on the result when the game finishes (excluding extra time).
Extra-Time and Penalty Shootouts In-Play Markets
Entries are settled after regulation (90 minutes).
Stats for players involved in extra time or a penalty shootout are not considered entries.
Matches Postponed, Brought Forward or Abandoned
Unplayed/postponed matches are non-runners unless they are played within the same week (ends Sunday).
Rescheduled matches (e.g., moved to Monday for TV) have action unless canceled by mutual consent.
If the match is played early, picks will be valid if placed before the revised kick-off.
Abandoned matches: picks void unless already determined (e.g., First Player to score).
Exceptions: For South American club matches, Full-Time Result and Double Chance markets are settled at the time of abandonment if the league allows it.
Matches Not Played as Listed
If a match venue changes, but the home team remains the same, picks stand.
If home/away teams are reversed, picks are void (except for NCAA Baseball).
Neutral venues: picks stand regardless of the home team designation.
Official fixture differences (e.g., age group or gender) make picks void.
Non-standard match formats (e.g., 3 or 4 periods) void "Half" related markets.
Settlement of Picks
Settled based on official stats from the Press Association (PA).
If PA data is unavailable or incorrect, independent evidence is used for settlement.
Opta data determines the settlement for match, team, and player statistics.
Picks are unaffected by team disqualification or reinstatement.
